The cost of a civil and church wedding

A concordat wedding is a more expensive undertaking. In addition to the obligatory fee at the Registrar's Office (PLN 84), the engaged couple must take into account the need to pay for:

• a visit to a family life clinic – PLN 50-100,
• pre-wedding announcements - approx. PLN 50,
• wedding - church wedding - supposedly "what a grace", but in practice at least PLN 500-1,500,
• remuneration for the organist/musicians - several hundred zlotys,
• church decorations – several hundred zlotys.

Some parishes charge an additional fee for taking a marriage course. However, these are exceptions. In most cases, participation in the course is free.

According to the Polish tradition, the costs related to the organization of the wedding and reception were covered by the parents of the Bride and Groom. Who pays for what at the wedding??
