Podgórna waterfall is located in the heart of the Giant Mountains. The cascade is the biggest natural attraction of Przesieka, located near the Karkonosze National Park. It is the third highest waterfall in the Polish Karkonosze Mountains.

Podgórna waterfall - location

We will find it in the picturesque town of Przesieka, under the slope of Polanka Hill, at an altitude of 547 m above sea level. In front of the waterfall, over the stream, a wooden bridge is suspended, from which there is a beautiful view of the cascade.

Granite cliffs on both sides of the stream provide a beautiful frame for the falling water. Thus, they make the waterfall one of the most beautiful places in the region. Podgórna waterfall is one of the less frequently visited attractions of the Karkonosze Mountains. Nevertheless, a trip to this place is the perfect opportunity to walk away from the crowds. At the waterfall, we have the opportunity to rest on benches or in a wooden shed with tables.

Bigger than him Kamieńczyk waterfall (27 m high) and Szklarki Waterfall (13 m high) attract more tourists, but the Podgórna Waterfall is equally picturesque and, importantly, free of charge.

swimming in Podgórna Waterfall it's already a tradition - winter baths gather up to several dozen people. And the water temperature, even in summer, is very low, usually not exceeding 10 degrees Celsius.

Some time ago there was an idea to build a small erratic dam over the waterfall, which would deprive the waterfall of as much as 70% of water! Fortunately, the project from 2007 was not approved by the Jelenia Góra starosty. Due to the rules regarding the development of the Podgórzyn commune, and also due to the location Podgórna Waterfall in the Natura 2000 area, no permit for such construction has been issued.
