History of the Spa Park in Cieplice

Legend has it that the local healing springs were discovered at the end of the 12th century by Duke Bolesław the Tall. How? While hunting, while running after a wounded deer, he saw that the animal had entered the water, soaking the wound. And the wound healed, thanks to the healing properties of these waters. In the 17th century, Cieplice was already a well-known and recognized health resort. Spa guests from all over the region came here - the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany.

Spa Park in Cieplice

Alone Spa Park was founded in 1713 in a vegetable garden belonging to the Schaffgotsch family, whose palace still exists in Cieplice. The Schaffgotschs left only a small piece of the garden, the so-called Schlosspark, for private use. The rest, i.e. Kurpark, they made available to residents of Cieplice and patients.

The park was planned in the French style, but eventually, in the 19th century, it became a typical English park. At that time, the layout of paths and flower beds was laid out, places for fountains, houses, shrines and statues were planned. A band shell and a theater were also built.
