how many drinks for a wedding

The amount of drinks (in alcoholic) at the wedding is one of the issues that future young couples spend sleepless nights on. On the one hand, we want to avoid unnecessary expenses, and on the other hand, we can't let the wedding guests get thirsty! That is why today we will tell you how many drinks for a wedding are worth considering.

How many drinks for the wedding and afterparty, and the number of guests

The most important factor is the number of people at the party. It is estimated that there should be 3 liters of drinks per guest (not including coffee and tea). This assumption works in most cases, but ... Exactly. It refers to traditional wedding receptions, lasting from the afternoon until late at night. If we are planning a party that starts earlier or lasts until dawn, this amount of fluids may not be enough. However, if we organize a wedding dinner for a family lasting several hours, it will be much too large.

Let's not forget about the corrections! In the case of corrections lasting several hours, an additional liter of drink for each guest should be enough. With longer play, this amount will of course increase.
The date of the wedding should not be underestimated either. In the summer, during the heat, we need to replenish fluids more often than normal. So if we want our guests to have the strength to have fun on the dance floor, we should take care of more cold drinks during July or August weddings.

What drinks for the wedding

When choosing the type of drinks served, it is also worth remembering several factors. As wedding expert Joanna Hoc-Kopiej notes: “Usually couples order the same amount of sweet carbonated and non-carbonated drinks and water. The former are primarily used to drink vodka. If we plan to serve only vodka at our wedding, or no vodka at all, we should increase or decrease the amount of sodas accordingly.”

Alkohol free drinks

If, on the other hand, there are a large number of children or abstainers among the guests, the key to success will be to increase the number of non-carbonated drinks. These can be various types of juices, non-alcoholic punch, compote or, for example, refreshing lemonade served at Dwór Korona Karkonoszy. Click and learn more about our kitchen!

How many drinks for a wedding - types

The types of drinks should depend not only on the preferences of the Bride and Groom, but above all on the type of alcohol served. Vodka is usually served at traditional Polish weddings. On the other hand, at a specially arranged alcohol table, you can display various types of other alcohols, e.g. Whiskey, Martini, Tequila or red or white wine. Depending on the type of alcohol, we must provide guests with matching drinks. It is assumed that for a wedding where vodka is the key alcohol, you should buy:

  • Up to 2 types of juices: e.g. orange, apple or currant. Such juices should not contain too much sugar, which does not go well with alcohol. So it is worth offering guests 100% juices from these fruits. Such juices can be served in jugs or carafes - they look much better on the tables and are convenient for guests.
  • Carbonated drinks: Pepsi or Coca-Cola and Sprite. It is worth buying them in smaller capacities, e.g. 1.5 l, because they will be more handy for guests and will not disturb the table decor. If you want to diversify the composition on the tables, you can buy even smaller volumes in glass bottles. Remember that in this case there must always be an opener on the table. This solution, however, is not very optimal financially, but it looks nice.
  • Water – is a must have, usually served in jugs or carafes, with the addition of mint, lemon or lime. Perfectly hydrates during hot days and big parties, and for many guests it is the only source of refreshment due to diets and intolerances.
  • Sparkling water – looks great served in small glass bottles. In such an opening, there is no fear that the water will degas.

These types of drinks are more than enough for traditional, polish wedding. Remember not to lose yourself in various types of juices - let's choose the most popular ones. In this way, we will be sure that we will not be left with full packs after the wedding.

Temperature matters

Many young couples rarely pay attention to one very important aspect of the wedding, during hot days - air conditioning. If the hall is equipped with it, guests will probably drink much less drinks. However, if the room does not have air conditioning, and the number of guests and the temperature warms everyone up to redness, everyone will certainly be much thirstier.

Hall for the wedding

In a room without air conditioning, the amount of drinks can exceed even 4 liters per person! Therefore, it is worth choosing not only the season, but also the presence of such amenities. For example, the Court Ballroom in Dwór Korona Karkonoszy is perfect hall for a wedding in the mountains – air-conditioned and heated, depending on the needs. The previously collected interview about the room and guests will allow us to make really accurate estimates. Once we deal with the drinks, we still have to order the right amount of alcohol. We will tell you about how much and which alcohol to choose in one of the next articles.
