Which champagne to choose for a wedding?

Attractions for the weddingTips

A wedding toast is a moment that will be immortalized in photos forever. After a long wait, all guests will dip their lips in champagne for the first time ... It would be ideal if they were not disappointed with the taste. What champagne for a wedding will be appropriate?

The choice of champagne for a wedding is largely an individual matter. However, we can rely on the experience of the chef at Dwór Korona Karkonoszy, who will definitely recommend a drink to accompany the dishes. Our products such as truffles or dry preserves will perfectly match good champagne. However, there are other factors besides quality.

What champagne for a wedding?

Thinking about what kind of champagne for a wedding, you can come to the conclusion that you need to combine the impossible:

  • must be of the highest quality
  • be universal – for each guest
  • must present well in the frame,
  • and also goes well with food.

However, there is also good news. Although there are many champagnes on the market, there are only a few of the most recognized brands:

  • Veuve Clicquo,
  • Moet & Chandon,
  • House Perignon.

Moet & Chandon champagne costs from PLN 150 to about PLN 500. Moet & Chandon Rose champagne with a gold-pink label will look lovely. The price of Dom Perignon starts from around PLN 750 to several thousand zlotys. It is champagne produced by the same manufacturer, but vintage - which means that each bottle is several to several dozen years old. So it is rather chosen for occasions such as anniversaries or eighteenth birthdays, because you can choose the year for the occasion (e.g. champagne from 2002 for someone who was born in 2002, etc.). The third of the "big three" is Veuve Clicquo, whose prices start at around PLN 200 and go up to several thousand zlotys, so you can easily choose something, taking into account the number of guests, budget, etc. The Rose and Pansardin Brut - both for about PLN 300.

Wedding champagne or sparkling wine?

Sparkling wine can be bought for just a few zlotys, but the prices of a decent one reach approx. PLN 100 per bottle. For about PLN 20, you can buy fashionable variants of prosecco and cava, and Cava Proyecto Cu4tro Rose Brut or Kientz Cremant d'Alsace Brut Rose are pink varieties with pretty labels that will look great at a solemn ceremony and can also be a lovely gift from Bride and Groom for guests. This may be the answer to the question of what champagne to buy when, for example, there are many guests or you just can't get enough really good champagne.

Another idea is a Polish, local product. Although champagne is not produced in Poland, a nice accent of a wedding in a folk or traditional style can be Polish sparkling wine from the vineyards of Kępa Wiślicka, Dębogóra or Wzgórze Trzebnickie, all priced around PLN 60 - 90 per bottle. The Belarusian sparkling wine Radziwiłł costs the same – a curiosity with a sumptuous, gold and white label.

The fewer guests, the more expensive champagne can be bought, although this drink for making toasts can be poured from one bottle into many glasses. Each champagne has a capacity of 750 ml, and the glass is approx. 100 ml. One bottle in the safe hands of the bottler will therefore go to as many as seven people.

Why champagne for a wedding?

Champagne at a wedding is a custom that we can observe in costume films from the 19th century and earlier. In Poland, it is rather the drink of the elites, and only recently. In the times of communism, the peak of dreams could be the so-called russian champagne. Therefore, it is not worth focusing too much on what champagne is for wedding reception. Yes, it is better to avoid the cheapest sparkling wines, which will not look good on souvenir photos. Apart from that, however, each bottle priced at around PLN 100 per piece and more will be good. Once you've made your choice, let the cook know your decision. We have a choice of 300 wedding dishes, among which it is easy to choose something. Our wedding menu includes both Polish and international dishes that go well with champagne.

What else should you consider when choosing champagne for a wedding?

Although it may sound petty, it is worth considering the etiquette. It's all about the impression it will make on your guests. You can invest in custom champagne labels. In gift shops and printers you can find e.g. such: champagne with golden glitter, perfect for a wedding, champagne with a label with wedding motifs, champagne in honor of the bride and groom.

This can be a good way to get out of the situation and not brag about the label of the purchased champagne. At the same time, a bottle decorated in this way, if there are a few of them left, will be a great gift for guests who are the first to leave the party or for those closest to their hearts.
