Szklarki Waterfall

The Szklarki Waterfall is the second largest waterfall on the Polish side of the Karkonosze Mountains. It is located 525 m above sea level and its height is 13.3 m. Water from the Szklarki stream flows down a wide cascade, narrowing downwards and creating an evorsion boiler. The waterfall owes its popularity not to its height or width, but to its unique, romantic charm.

The Szklarki Waterfall is popular with energetic hikers as well as families with children, thanks to the very easy trail. There is a road leading to the attraction, which is a section of two tourist trails:

  • black - which surrounds Szklarska Poręba,
  • blue: from Piechowice to Czeska Budka.

The exit of the route is at the Szklarka Parking lot located by the national road no. 3, between Piechowice and Szklarska Poręba. There are several dozen parking spaces available in the car park, and several of them are also intended for buses. Within the car park you will also find bus stops - buses depart from here towards Jelenia Góra and Piechowice and towards Szklarska Poręba.

Szklarki Waterfall - information for tourists

The way to the trail can be found between the stalls located there, and after crossing the first bridge, we will also reach the information point of the Karkonosze National Park, where admission tickets must be purchased. A one-day ticket, valid throughout the park, costs PLN 8, and a reduced ticket - PLN 4. The park does not charge children up to 7 years of age.

The distance from the car park to the Szklarki Waterfall is 1 km, and the average time in which you can cover it is about 30 minutes. Importantly, the trail is also easily traversed by wheelchair users, and thanks to the viewing platform crowning it, everyone has the opportunity to admire it in all its glory.

If you want to see the cascade from a different perspective, you can go up the stairs, which are located on the right side of the waterfall. There is also a small Kochanówka shelter near the waterfall, where you can eat and drink something warm. In addition, the shelter has 12 beds, including a room with a view of the Szklarki Waterfall.
