In the years 1945-1993, the largest Soviet garrison in Poland was stationed in Legnica, which also influenced the shape of the city. Legnica was even dubbed "Little Moscow", which years later was brilliantly portrayed in his film of the same title by director Waldemar Krzystek.

The most famous is House "Under the Quail's Basket". Built in the 14th century, but rebuilt and decorated with sgraffito in the mid-16th century, it is a corner tenement house on the Market Square.
