Rhythmic music cannot be missing at a wedding reception, which will move the guests from their seats and encourage them to have great fun on the dance floor. Is the fee for ZAiKS for a wedding obligatory? If so, who should bear it?

ZAiKS, i.e. the Union of Stage Authors and Composers, is one of the four collective copyright management organizations operating in Poland. It was established in 1918 to protect the creative interests of artists. According to the Act on Copyright and Related Rights, the use of a given author's work (reproduction and performance) requires his consent and appropriate payment. Due to the fact that obtaining licenses from each contractor separately is practically impossible, we can do it through ZAiKS. The organization will issue us one collective license.
ZAiKS for a wedding – how much does it cost and who bears the costs?
The fee for ZAiKS for a wedding can be calculated using the form available on the organization's website. The information that needs to be provided there is: the estimated number of people, type of music, remuneration of the performer, type of premises, city. However, the contractor's remuneration is the most important. It is up to him how much we pay. ZAiKS amounts to 10% of the team's remuneration (e.g. with PLN 5,000, it will be PLN 500).

What are the consequences of not paying ZAiKS for a wedding?
